Incredibox - OC Sprunki WIP: The Unfinished Symphony
Okay so this one says "WIP" right in the title which already sets expectations. If you've never played any of these games before, this might be a weird place to start... but also maybe a fun one? It's like jumping into the middle of someone's creative process.
I've started seeing the color schemes in my daily life. That store sign is definitely Phase 4 teal. So when I saw this OC version, I was like "oh new colors!" My fingers know the sound each icon makes before I click it at this point. Muscle memory is real.
There's a specific satisfaction when two icons sync perfectly. Better than coffee. This WIP version has moments like that, but also moments where things just... don't work. Hence the "work in progress" label, I guess!
I can feel my brain switching between focused and diffuse thinking. One minute I'm trying to make something coherent, next minute I'm just clicking randomly. The sounds are layered weird in this one. Sometimes they cancel each other out, which is either a bug or a feature depending on your perspective.
My phone's autocorrect now suggests "Sprunki" as a real word. It's not wrong. Language evolves, people! Anyway, back to this OC WIP thing - it's perfect for those quick breaks between classes or work. Like 5-10 minutes where you just want to zone out and make some noises.
The challenge I set for myself: try to imitate real sounds. Like wind, or footsteps, or rain. How close can you get with these digital blobs? It's harder than it sounds (pun intended).
If you're completely new to this whole scene, this WIP version shows you the messy side of creation. Not everything is polished and perfect. Sometimes games are... works in progress. Literally. Check out other OC Sprunki games or the OC game section. There's also the main Incredibox Sprunki game if you want something more finished.
Questions that popped into my head: Are there regular community challenges for games like this? What's the system requirements for running these browser games? And what's the cultural impact of Sprunki - like has it inspired any real-world music or memes?
This WIP version feels like peeking behind the curtain. You get to see something that isn't fully baked yet, which is kinda cool in its own way. The UI uses at least 3 different fonts. Graphic design is my passion, apparently. The characters have different opacities - some see-through, some solid. No consistency, but that's the charm?
If you're looking for something to decompress with during short breaks, and you don't mind things being a bit rough around the edges, give this OC WIP a shot. It's like digital play-doh - imperfect but fun to squish around.
