Sprunki Phase 49: Almost 50 But Not Quite
Phase 49. We're getting up there in numbers, aren't we? I found this during one of those "I have 5 minutes between meetings what do I do" moments. You know the drill - brain needs a reset but you don't have time for anything serious.
#251 This is the soundtrack to procrastination in the digital age. Honestly that's what most Sprunki games are for me. I'm supposed to be doing something else, but instead I'm here making little beep-boop tunes.
#263 Like elevator music for an elevator that's stuck between floors. That's the vibe sometimes with these later phases. They're in this weird limbo between "simple fun" and "trying too hard."
#275 If a loading bar had a theme song, this would be it. The sounds in Phase 49 have this... waiting quality? Like they're anticipating something that never comes.
#287 This is what you'd hear in a waiting room in the matrix. All digital and slightly unsettling but also comforting in a way?
My goal with this one was simple: make something that makes me chuckle within 60 seconds. Just a quick little thing that gives me that "heh" feeling. The time pressure makes it interesting - you don't overthink, you just click and drag and see what happens.
If you're looking for inspiration (or just more things to click), here are some suggestions: The whole OC series is good if you like original characters. There's also a maker tool if you want to create your own. And you should check out what people consider the original versions to compare.
Some things I wondered about while playing: Do these games have public galleries where people post their creations? Like, is there a Sprunki SoundCloud equivalent? Also, does the community have regular challenges? That would be fun - weekly themes or something. And seriously, how long does it take to make one of these? Phase 49 feels like it has more going on than some of the earlier ones.
The characters in this one look... tired? Or maybe that's me projecting. They've been through 48 other phases, they're allowed to be a little weary.
Anyway, Phase 49. It exists. It makes noises when you click things. Sometimes the noises go together nicely. Try it when you're avoiding actual work (or during a legitimate break, I guess).
