Sprunki Phase 3 Remastered: When Everyone Decided to Be Vineria
Okay so I'm trying to explain Phase 3 Remastered to someone who's already clicked a few blobs in their time, and the first thing that hits is: wait, why is everyone vineria now? Like, not just one character - ALL of them. It's either a brilliant thematic choice or someone really loved that particular character design. Probably both. The loading screen has a typo. "Incredibox" spelled "Incredibx." Quality control. But you know what? It adds character.
Here's a challenge for you if you've played a Sprunki or two before: Try to make it sound like rain using only three icons. I'm serious. Pick the light blue one that goes tink-tink-tink, the darker one that does the wub-wub bass thing, and that grayish one that makes the shhh noise. Arrange them so the shhh is constant, the tink-tink comes in randomly, and the wub-wub shows up occasionally like distant thunder. It's... surprisingly close? My fingers know the positions of icons without looking. Muscle memory is real with this one.
My friends and I tried this the other night when we were just hanging out with nothing better to do. We took turns adding one icon each, trying to make the worst/best rainstorm. It devolved into chaos quickly, which is exactly what you want from a group Sprunki session. The UI uses at least 3 different fonts. Graphic design is my passion. But honestly, who's looking at the fonts when you're trying to make digital rain?
I should probably learn actual music production instead of clicking pictures. But this is easier, and honestly more fun when you're just messing around. The character designs look like they were made in MS Paint in 2005. In a good way. Like, nostalgic but also kind of charmingly simple. There's a 0.5 second delay between click and sound. Just enough to be annoying if you're trying to be precise, but if you're going for the rain effect, it actually helps with the "random droplets" vibe.
Now, about sharing your creations: How do I share to social media directly? You don't, really. You screen record and hope people get it. Or you try to describe it in words, which never works. "It's like blip-bloop-shhh but with more wub." See? Makes no sense. Can you follow other creators? Not in-game, but you absolutely should check out the Sprunki Scratch community where people are doing wild things with this formula.
Can it help with musical ear training? Maybe? Like, you start noticing which sounds clash and which harmonize, even if they're just beeps and boops. My brain now defaults to "Sprunki review mode" when I see colorful icons. It's a problem. How can content creators benefit from this? Background music for videos, maybe? Or just as a way to clear your head between projects. The animation for this character is 2 frames off sync. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. But maybe that's the "remastered" part - they remastered the glitches too?
If you're digging this whole online Sprunki thing, definitely check out the main online hub for more variations. Or if you're really committed to the free-play life, there's always the completely free versions that don't ask for anything but your time and occasional laughter at how bad/good your creations are.
The sounds cut off if you click too fast. Rhythm game players hate this. But for rain sounds? It works. Trust me. Give the three-icon rain challenge a shot. See if your friends can tell what you're going for. Spoiler: They probably can't, but the attempt is what counts.
