1996 But With Your OCs? Perfect for Background Noise Tinkering

If you're an amateur hobbyist poking around for creative inspiration and you need some background music that you actually had a hand in making, this "1996 With My OCs" mod is a curious little sandbox. It's not about deep composition. It's about the quiet satisfaction of making something that makes you smirk while you're doing something else.

Here's a practical way to use it: Set a 1-minute timer. Your goal is not perfection. Your goal is to slap together three or four sounds from your custom OC set that create a complete, if silly, little 5-second loop that repeats. Something that makes you go "heh" when you listen back. That's the win. The audio has compression artifacts. Sounds like a YouTube video from 2009, which adds to the charm.

My eyes are starting to blur from all the bright colors if I focus too long, but as background noise, it's fine. I can feel my heartbeat syncing with the bass line. Concerning, but also kind of cool. The character designs have more personality than some AAA game characters, especially if they're your own OCs. My fingers are memorizing the mouse movements through muscle memory already. There's a pleasant tingle in my fingertips when I find a good combo, even a simple one. The volume balance is weird. Bass too loud, highs too quiet. You learn to work with it.

This mod exists in a web of community character lore. If your OCs are inspired by or related to characters like Wenda or Gray, you might want to check out the dedicated Wenda Treatment series or the broader Gray-themed games for more aesthetic inspiration.

What are the system requirements? A web browser. That's it. What are the basic controls? Drag your OC icons. What are the most popular sound combinations? Probably the ones using the most unique OC sounds. Has it been featured anywhere notable? Probably not, it's a niche OC mod.

Treat it like a digital fidget toy that occasionally produces a decent background rhythm. Don't fight the jank. Lean into it. The low-stakes creativity is the whole point.
