DONT MESS WITH GUNS: Or Do, Actually, It's Just ADOFAI
Okay so like the title is all caps with spaces which is... a choice. D O N T M E S S W I T H G U N S. Sounds intense. But it's just ADOFAI so like, no actual guns? I think? Unless the geometric shapes are guns? I dunno.
Anyway I'm a total memory player. Like, I need to play something enough times that my fingers just know what to do. My brain can't process fast enough to sight-read. So this level? Actually decent for that. The patterns repeat in a way that after like 5 tries, my hands are like "oh yeah we got this".
I use it as a warm-up sometimes before playing other rhythm games. Get the fingers moving, get the timing locked in. And man, I've been chasing that FC on this for ages. Always mess up at the same spot. It's haunting me. Like, literally in my dreams.
But listen, you CAN do it. I believe in you. Seriously. If I can almost get it, you can definitely get it. Just... keep trying. That's the coach advice, I guess. Not very helpful but it's true.
Weird thing: sometimes I'll listen to a perfect run of a level I'm stuck on. Like, just the audio. No video. And it's like... ASMR? But for suffering? The clicks are so clean and precise. Meanwhile my runs sound like a broken typewriter.
Also I've developed weird superstitions. Like, I have to sit with my left foot tucked under my right leg. And I have to use my old keyboard even though the spacebar sticks sometimes. Don't judge me.
Watching replays is so cringe though. You see every lucky hit, every "oh I definitely should have missed that". Feels fake even though it's real.
And now I see potential tap points EVERYWHERE. Like, I'll be waiting in line somewhere and my brain goes "that tile pattern would be a great 3/4 rhythm". Or "that window frame has perfect spacing for alternating beats". It's a problem.
Oh and my right index finger is SO jealous of my left one. Like, lefty gets all the action while righty just... sits there. Sometimes I'll switch hands just to make it fair. Results are terrible but at least it's fair.
Random questions: How do other gaming communities even view ADOFAI? Like, do FPS players think we're crazy? And how long does the first campaign take normal people? Took me forever but I'm slow. Also how do you balance practice without wrecking your hands? And how does the editor testing work anyway? Like, do creators play their own levels 100 times?
DONT MESS WITH GUNS is a solid warm-up. Good for memory players, challenging enough for FC chasing, and the all-caps title makes it feel important. Just... don't take it too seriously. It's still just geometric shapes and clicking.
Unless... they're actually guns? Nah.
