ADOFAI Custom - TPOT Intro Small Flash Warning
ADOFAI Custom - TPOT Intro: Wait, People Make These??
So I literally just found out about ADOFAI like two days ago. Friend mentioned it, I shrugged, then tried this TPOT thing because the name made me chuckle. Holy crap. People out here are creating whole... experiences? Not just levels, like actual little artworks.
First off: the flash warning is real. Like, don't play this if you're sensitive to quick bright stuff. But also don't let that scare you off - it's part of what makes it cool. The creator clearly put thought into the visuals, not just the rhythm.
I've been practicing this one section over and over in practice mode. Nail it every time. Perfect timing, feels great. Then I try the full run and... nope. Fail at the exact same spot. Every. Single. Time. What is that about?? It's like my brain knows it's "for real" now and panics.
Anyway, there's something kinda satisfying about being the only person in my friend group who even knows what ADOFAI is, let alone can play it. When I showed my roommate, he just stared at the screen for a minute and went "you press ONE button? That's it?" Yeah buddy, that's it. Try it.
So basic questions from a total noob: What are the minimum system requirements for ADOFAI? My laptop is kinda old but this seems to run okay. And What is the core gameplay mechanic of ADOFAI? Like beyond "press button to rhythm" - what's actually happening?
Back to TPOT Intro: beating this (after like 30 tries) made me feel... accomplished. Like I achieved something. Different from finishing a regular game level. More personal? Maybe because I know someone made this for fun, not as part of some big studio project.
Weird thing: my finger kept tingling after I stopped playing. Like phantom vibrations or something. As if it expected to keep tapping. Had to shake my hand out a few times.
Oh and I got "Invisible Pathrolled" at one point. Had no idea what was happening - suddenly there's no visible path, just the beat markers. Apparently this is some community rite of passage? Feels like being initiated into a secret club.
If you're new like me, give this one a shot. It's creative, challenging but not impossible, and shows what people can do with the editor. Just... maybe don't play it right before bed. The flashy bits stick in your vision.
