Custom World NM: Because Normal Suffering Wasn't Enough
Let's be real: I'm here for the pain. The harder the better. Masochistic difficulty seeker, that's me. If a level doesn't make me question my sanity at least once, what's even the point?
This "Custom World NM" thing - NM means No Mods, right? So vanilla suffering. Pure, unadulterated, no-assists-available pain. Perfect.
And I'm playing it on my phone. On the bus. Because why not? Public transit gaming - the jostling, the noise, the weird looks from old ladies when I mutter curses under my breath. Trying to record a clean run for my... I dunno, archives? Future generations need to know I suffered for them.
***STORYTELLER VOICE*** "Once upon a time, a creator sat down to design a custom world. They thought: 'How can I make something beautiful yet cruel? How can I guide players through geometric hell with nothing but their wits and one key?' They crafted each tile with care, each spin with malice disguised as rhythm. This is their story. This is Custom World NM."
Yeah so the design process behind these things must be... something. Someone deliberately making something difficult. For fun. We're all messed up here.
Superstitions are real though. "I must sit with my left leg crossed." "I must use the spacebar, never the mouse click." "I must have exactly 37% brightness on my screen." None of it actually helps but if I don't do it, I'll fail. Obviously.
But introducing someone NEW to this? Watching their first "aha!" moment when they finally get a pattern? That's joy. Pure joy. Until they hit the first wall and start crying. Then it's just... familiar.
The "wheelchair" meme cracks me up. Mods that simplify visuals so us mortals can actually play the ultra-hard stuff. Calling them wheelchairs because... we're crippled? I dunno. Community humor is dark.
So random thoughts while the bus bounces: What merchandise even EXISTS for ADOFAI? Like, could I buy a plushie of the little planet? A t-shirt that says "I survived Freedom Dive"? And what's the actual difficulty jump from official levels to community stuff? Like, quantitatively? Is it 2x harder? 10x? 100x?
Custom World NM delivers what it promises: a custom world, no mods allowed, plenty of suffering. Good for mobile masochists on transit. Recording a clean run is... aspirational. Maybe someday.
Just maybe don't play it on a bumpy road. Your accuracy will suffer. More than usual, I mean.
