FNF Purple Dot Thing: When Friday Night Gets Geometrical
Okay so. First time seeing this ADOFAI thing. Like, what even is this? Shapes moving, colors flashing, and now there's this "FNF" version? Friday Night Funkin? With a purple dot? I'm so confused but also... intrigued.
Playing on my old laptop btw. Keyboard is kinda mushy, trackpad is a nightmare but whatever. Makes everything feel... squishy. Like the timing is off but maybe it's just me being new? Or the laptop? Both probably.
What's wild is trying to figure out my own "style" of playing. Like, do I tap with my index finger? Middle finger? Both? Do I look at the dot or the path? Everything feels wrong but also... interesting? Developing a personal approach is harder than I thought.
The visuals mess with my head though. Like, things aren't where they seem. The purple dot moves but the path moves differently? Or something? Visual deception they call it. Feels like being tricked but in a fun way. Mostly.
You know what's actually cool though? Introducing someone to this madness. Watching their face when they get that first "aha!" moment. Priceless. Like, "oh THAT'S how it works!" Even if they immediately fail after.
My family keeps asking about the noise tho. "What's that constant thock-thock-thock sound?" "It's... geometric rhythm mom, you wouldn't understand." She doesn't. But she humors me.
Gotta admit tho - the people who design these levels? Brilliant. Like, actual geniuses. Also kinda sadistic but like... in a good way? You can tell they love making us suffer. But it's artful suffering.
And some mappers have this thing where you KNOW it'll be hard. Like, you see their name and go "oh boy here we go". But you never know HOW it'll be hard. Predictable unpredictability. Keeps you on your toes.
Random thoughts while my brain processes shapes: How many official levels ARE there anyway? Like, in the base game? And how does failing over and over actually affect how you learn? Like, psychologically? Does it make you better or just more frustrated? Also does this game even work on fancy high refresh rate monitors? My laptop is 60Hz and struggling.
FNF Purple Dot is... an experience. If you're new to this whole ADOFAI thing and have a questionable laptop, give it a shot. It's confusing, deceptive, and might help you find your own weird playing style. Or just confuse you more. Either way, it's something.
