Osu NegaRen- Insane ½ 2 songs: A Brutally Fun Experiment

Hey, all you “Tech” players who love complex rhythms and unconventional patterns! Imagine you’re at a LAN party with friends, and flashing on the screen aren’t just ordinary circles, but “geometry puzzles” that demand your full concentration to decipher. That’s the feeling Osu NegaRen- Insane ½ 2 songs brings.

The game itself warns that it’s “really HARD” if you’ve never played the original osu!—better take a deep breath first. It’s currently a “WORK IN PROGRESS,” with many elements like sliders, spinners, and maybe even leaderboards still missing. But the developer packed in two incredibly atmospheric tracks by @negaren and @lapfoxtrax, making it worth a try for the music alone.

How do you play? Deceptively simple: move your mouse and press A or S over the notes in time to the beat. Sounds easy? But your accuracy will plummet if you miss or hit a note late! Here’s a pro tip: a Rainbow note appears every 20 notes! Don’t miss it, because it grants you a nice boost.

Want something even weirder? Try the mentioned “turbo mode,” although the developer admits they don’t even know what it changes. It’s like when you’re playing some community-made beatmap and the background video syncs perfectly with a beat drop—that accidental cinematic brilliance is just awesome. More often, though, you might experience the universe’s cruelest joke: failing at 99.8% combo because you blinked.

Playing this game, you might start judging real-world architecture based on “how mappable” the rhythms would be. It might not help you understand the complex osu mods system or provide a complete osu tutorial, but it will definitely give you a frantic, “one-more-try” raw rhythm game experience. After all, who doesn’t want to test their limits in reading complex patterns?
