ADOFAI BUT the chicken has to cross the road
ADOFAI BUT the chicken has to cross the road
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME TO THE MOST ABSURD ADOFAI VARIATION YOU'LL EVER PLAY! "ADOFAI BUT the chicken has to cross the road" - yes, you read that right.
imagine you're a masochistic difficulty seeker, the kind of person who hunts for the hardest community levels like they're treasure. but today, you're not on your usual keyboard. oh no. you've hooked up a DANCE PAD. because why not make an impossible game even more impossible, right?
the genius of a track that visually 'unfolds' in time with the music's structure? that's what this is, but with chickens. literal chickens. the whole thing is about creating mental shortcuts for complex patterns, but the pattern is... a chicken crossing a road while dodging geometric obstacles.
seriously, there's an invisible guide that the track has - an implied line that the planet *should* follow, except the line keeps getting interrupted by pixelated chickens. it's like a meta-track that comments on ADOFAI mapping tropes by completely breaking them. and then laughing at you.
tracks that are better on the second playthrough once you know the 'gimmick'? this is the ultimate version of that. the first time you play, you're just confused. chickens? roads? what? but the second time, you realize it's actually teaching you something about rhythm reading.
so here's the thing: how DOES multiplayer/local co-op work in adofai? because i can imagine two people on dance pads trying to coordinate chicken crossings. also, is adofai even suitable for children? i mean, the chicken theme suggests yes, but the difficulty suggests NO. and what's the average file size for adofai anyway? this version feels both tiny and massive at the same time.
if you're trying to record a clean gameplay video for sharing - good luck. every attempt ends with me flailing on the dance pad while chickens mock me from the screen. but when you DO finally get a good run? it's commentary gold. like a sports event where the underdog (you) finally beats the champion (the chicken level).
the whole experience is ridiculous in the best way. it shouldn't work, but it does. the rhythm is tight, the patterns make sense once you stop thinking "but why chickens?" and just accept it.
gosprunki.net has some weird stuff, but this? this is peak weird. and i'm here for it.
