ADOFAI WIP 1.0 remix
ADOFAI WIP Remix: When Everything is New and Confusing
Okay so I'm brand new to this whole ADOFAI thing. Like, just downloaded it today. The geometric visuals are pretty but also... what am I even looking at? It's like someone took a screensaver and made it interactive. In a confusing way.
And I'm trying to play it with this weird specialized controller I got - like, an arcade button thing. Because why use a normal keyboard like a normal person? Gotta make things extra difficult from the start, right?
But here's the thing: I don't just want to play. I want to understand. Like, what makes a good level? What are the design principles behind these charts? If I'm gonna suffer, I at least want to know WHY I'm suffering.
So in my best therapist voice: "It's okay to feel frustrated. The geometric patterns can be overwhelming at first. Let's set a realistic goal: just try to understand one section at a time. Breathe. It's just a game."
See? Therapeutic.
This WIP remix thing feels like... comfort food? Like, it's not too crazy, not too simple. Something I can return to when newer, harder maps are absolutely destroying me. A safe space in geometric form.
And it kinda feels like a "gateway map" - you know, something designed specifically to introduce new players to harder concepts. Like, "here's a spin, here's a speed change, here's how patterns work." Baby steps into the madness.
You know that moment when you realize you've been holding your breath for like 30 seconds during a tight section? And then you finally breathe and it's like... whoa, oxygen. Yeah, that happens. A lot.
So basic questions because I'm new: What are the actual minimum requirements to run this thing? Like, can my potato laptop handle it? And what even counts as a "beginner" level in ADOFAI? Because some of these "beginner" levels feel... not beginner.
The WIP 1.0 remix is actually not a bad place to start. Especially if you're using some weird controller and want to understand what's going on design-wise. It's forgiving enough to learn on, interesting enough to not be boring, and therapeutic enough to not make you throw your arcade button across the room.
Probably.
DEEP BREATHS. IT'S JUST GEOMETRY. IT CAN'T HURT YOU. PROBABLY.
