A dance of fire and ice v2.4.4 Texture pack
That Texture Pack for When You're Half-Watching Netflix
So I'm trying to get through this true crime podcast right? And my brain's like 60% on that, 40% on ADOFAI. That's just how I roll - multitasking queen over here. Muscle memory player to the core, I don't need to actually see what's coming, my fingers just kinda... know. Usually.
Enter this texture pack thing for v2.4.4. Honestly at first I was like "do I even need new textures?" The game looks fine. But then I tried it and... okay it's actually kinda nice. Changes up the visuals just enough to feel fresh without being distracting. Which is good because I'm already distracted enough listening to some guy talk about a missing persons case from 1992.
Still chasing that damn FC though. There's this one level that's been haunting me for WEEKS. Every time I think I've got it, nope. One mistake. Always one freaking mistake.
And you know what's wild? I'll be in the middle of a tight section and suddenly realize... I haven't breathed in like 30 seconds. Like, my body just goes into full lockdown mode. Oxygen? Who needs that when you've got rhythm patterns to hit.
When I finally beat that level (IF I ever do), I know exactly what'll happen. No cheering, no celebration. Just... empty relief. Like "okay it's over now I guess." All that effort for what? To feel nothing? Weird game.
Speaking of weird - ever play a section so many times wrong that when you FINALLY get it right, it feels... off? Like your brain has been conditioned to expect failure, so success feels like a bug. The correct timing starts feeling like the wrong timing. Makes no sense but it happens.
So random thoughts while my podcast guy finds another clue: How do other gaming communities actually see ADOFAI? Like, do platformer gamers get it? Fighting game players? And how long does it take normal people to finish the official campaign anyway? Took me forever but I was also kinda terrible and also watching a lot of TV so...
The texture pack is cool though. If you're like me and play mostly on muscle memory while doing other stuff, it gives you something new to look at without messing up your flow. And maybe, just maybe, it'll help you get that FC you've been chasing. Or at least make failing look prettier.
Back to the podcast. I think the butler did it. Or whatever.
