Okay so I was streaming the other night, right? Trying to grind out this section in "Freedom Dive" for like the hundredth time. My chat was getting bored, I was getting frustrated, and everything just looked... gray. Like rhythm game grayscale. Then I remembered someone in Discord mentioned this purple and pink dots editor thing. Downloaded it on a whim.
Man, what a difference colors make. Suddenly my practice session felt less like torture and more like... I dunno, creating something? The purple background with those pink dots for hit markers - it's kinda hypnotic. Makes you focus differently. Like, I stopped watching the star so much and started actually seeing the pattern.
You know that moment when you're trying to FC a level and you keep missing by milliseconds? And your brain just goes "nope, not today"? This editor mod... it doesn't fix your timing, obviously. But it makes the whole thing feel less punishing. The colors are weirdly calming even when you're failing for the fiftieth time.

As a content creator, I'm always looking for stuff that makes for good visuals. Purple and pink might sound garish, but on stream it pops. Viewers commented on it immediately. "What mod is that?" "The colors are sick!" Makes the whole ADOFAI experience feel fresh again when you've been staring at the same default visuals for months.
I keep thinking about what makes levels actually enjoyable to play versus just difficult. Like, what's the hardest official level anyway? Is it the one with the most notes or the one that plays the most visual tricks? And how do you even judge your progress when "Perfect" and "Early" are separated by like 20 milliseconds?
This editor isn't going to magically make you better at ADOFAI. But sometimes... you just need a change of scenery. Your brain gets stuck in patterns, both in the game and in how you see the game. New colors, new dots - it resets something. Makes you look at the geometry differently.
Would recommend for anyone who's hit a plateau or just wants their custom levels to stand out. The pink dots are particularly good for marking off-beats in complex sections. Makes syncopation visual in a way the default hit markers don't.
Anyway, back to grinding. The purple haze awaits.
