ADOFAI - Neo Cosmos T5 wip but I added too many swirls
Neo Cosmos T5: The Swirl Pit
And now, a brief documentary. The year is... whenever. The Neo Cosmos series stands as a monument to community-driven difficulty. T1, T2, T3... each a test. Then comes T5. A work in progress. But this particular iteration bears a confessional subtitle: "but I added too many swirls." This is not a bug report. It is a statement of artistic intent, or perhaps regret.
Our subject tonight is the competitive player. Alone, in a dark room, screen glowing. Their goal is not merely to survive, but to conquer with speed. To shave milliseconds off a time threshold on a map that is, by its creator's own admission, visually overloaded. The swirls. They are everywhere. Clockwise, counter-clockwise, nested within each other. The path becomes a vortex.
This level represents a fascinating branch in the evolutionary tree of ADOFAI maps. It is unfinished, raw. The excessive swirling may be a deliberate artistic choice to disorient, or it may simply be the result of a creator falling in love with a single visual effect. We may never know. But for the speedrunner, it presents a unique puzzle: how to navigate the chaos efficiently. The swirls are not just decoration; they alter perception, hide turn points, and demand a different kind of focus.
The annual "Best of ADOFAI Maps" community awards, with fierce but friendly competition.
This map will not win those awards. It is a WIP, a curiosity. But it is precisely in these unfinished labs that new ideas—or in this case, excessive swirls—are tested.
Background effects are either crucial rhythm cues or distractions placed by a cruel god.
Here, the swirls are both. They move with the music, but there are so many they become a chaotic soup. Separating signal from noise is the challenge.
Some tracks are "visual lies"; the true rhythm is hidden in a subtle background pulse.
Amidst the swirls, you must find that pulse. The true path is in there somewhere. Probably.
For the competitor, practical concerns arise. What input methods work best? In this browser version, likely keyboard. Mouse might struggle with the precision needed between swirls. What are the crown achievements? In the official game, they denote mastery. Here, the only crown is the self-satisfaction of setting a fast time on a famously dizzying WIP.
This level is a snapshot. A moment in a map's life where swirls were abundant. Will they be trimmed back? Will they become the defining feature? Only time, and the creator's willingness to edit, will tell. For now, it exists as a challenge. A swirling, vertigo-inducing testament to the fact that sometimes, in the heat of creation, you can indeed add too many swirls. Your time starts now.
